We go back to the year 1548. Our story begins in far away India. In the port of Calicut, with its colourful streets full of noisy people and lovely smells, Amal leads the sheltered life of an ordinary 12-year-old boy.
But one day, Amal and his friend, the elephant Soliman, are kidnapped by Portuguese merchants and shipped to Portugal. After the two manage to escape, an adventurous journey across Europe begins, that puts their friendship to the test and requires all their courage.
